Passmore Outruns Goodman in Opener

KELLYVILLE, Okla. (April 5, 2008) - Jamie Passmore raced into an early lead then outran defending champion Mike Goodman over the final 20 laps to win the OCRS Sprint season opener over a 28-car field Saturday at Creek County Speedway.

Passmore had to be flawless on the tight quarter mile oval as Goodman stayed within a couple of car lengths as the two threaded through lapped traffic during the last half of the 30-lap race. Goodman came close to taking the lead on lap 18 but Passmore refused to let lapped traffic slow him down and led Goodman across the line at the checkered. Former track champion Roy Larkin climbed into third, Dean Drake, Jr. finished fourth and Kenneth Walker rounded out the top five. Following the race Drake was disqualified during an inspection of the top five and that moved Matt Sherrell into fifth.

The main event opened with Travis Jenkins roaring off the pole only to see a quick yellow. On the restart Rafe Essary flipped his sprinter in turn one to bring out the red. Following another yellow Passmore drove into the lead with Jenkins and Goodman giving chase. On lap eight Jenkins spin into the infield in turn four collecting Danny Smith. Smith's car went up on two wheels but came down without rolling over.
Passmore resumed the lead on lap nine with Earl McDoulett in second. But a lap later Goodman wheeled around McDoulett for second and from then on it was a two car race. Four laps from the finish Larkin moved into third as McDoulett fell back.

The next event on the OCRS schedule will be April 18 at Outlaw Motor Speedway.
