Cordell Wings it While Goodman Goes Wingless at Creek County Speedway

KELLYVILLE, Okla. (July 26, 2008) - Cody Cordell won his first career OCRS sprint main event on Saturday and former champion Mike Goodman put his skills to work in stealing a final lap victory in the non-wing portion of the show at Creek County Speedway. But it was points leader Jamie Passmore who took home the $1,400 prize money for the best overall finish in the two events. Passmore finished fourth in the wing feature and came back with a second place finish behind Goodman in the non-wing event.
Brent Bates led the first five laps in the opening wing feature till the yellow came out for Kevin Cummings who stopped up high on the turn two apron. Cordell took advantage on the restart to get around Bates for the lead. Cordell led the remaining 20 laps for the win. Matt Sherrell passed Bates for second on lap 20 then Danny Smith and Passmore also got by to finish third and fourth. Bates held on for fifth.
Goodman, who finished eighth in the wing feature, battled with Passmore for second late in the non-wing race before making a move on leader Dean Drake, Jr. on the final lap for his third straight and fourth victory of the season.
The went green with Smith in the early lead over Drake and Passmore. On lap three the red stopped the action after Johnny Kent took a wild end-over-end tumble in turn three. Kent was not hurt and the race restarted with Smith still out front.
On lap eight the yellow waved for a three-car crash in turn three and Smith ended up spun around on the backstretch with front end problems. Smith could not restart and Drake inherited the lead. Drake set the pace by staying low on the track with Passmore moving up to second. Soon Goodman was in third and the two started dicing for the runner-up spot. Passmore held a slight second place advantage on lap 16 and again on laps 19 and 20. Goodman finally moved into second on lap 23 and closed on Drake as the white flag waved. Goodman drove in low on Drake in turn one and there was wheel contact. Goodman pulled ahead for the victory while Drake nursed his damaged front end around to finish fifth as Passmore, Tim Kent and Shane Pace drove past.
