Smith Sweeps the Field at West Siloam

WEST SILOAM SPRINGS, Okla. (May 24, 2008) - Danny Smith topped a 24-car field to become the fourth different OCRS winner in six events Saturday at West Siloam Springs Speedway.

After winning the second heat Smith earned enough passing points to start on the pole of the main event, but due to a pill draw held at intermission Smith drew second row inside. However that was not enough to stop Smith from taking a quick lead when the green flag dropped.

Smith jumped past front row starters Travis Jenkins and Matt Sherrell on the first lap and led all the way to post his first OCRS victory of the season. Kenneth Walker, who started outside of Smith, roared into second where he finished ahead of series points leader Jamie Passmore. Defending champion Mike Goodman held down fourth and Sherrell rounded out the top five.
Only two yellow flags interrupted the main event. Waylon Weaver brought out a yellow on lap four and Dean Drake, Jr. spun on lap six.

Nigel Calvert led Tim Kent, Len Larkin and Jamie McDonald across the line in the B main. All four earned starting spots in the A main and Kent advanced the most with a eleventh place finish after starting 18. Calvert finished thirteenth.

The next OCRS event will be at Oklahoma Sports Park in Ada next Saturday.
