Muskogee, Oklahoma (October 10, 2009) - Time may be running out on the 2009 Oil Capital Racing Series points race, but if Danny Smith his way it will be a race to the finish. Smith turned in a perfect night Saturday at Outlaw Motor Speedway winning his heat and the 'A' feature over a 35-car field.
Currently second in season points, Smith managed to pick up 11 points on series points leader Jamie Passmore who finished fourth.
Smith started the 25-lap main event inside second row and had to chase down pole sitter Waylon Weaver in the early laps. Weaver jumped out front with Terry Easum in second and Smith holding on to third. On lap four Smith roared by Easum for second and began to close the gap on Weaver. Smith pulled up behind Weaver on lap seven then drove into the lead to start lap nine. Meanwhile Johnny Kent had worked his way into third but gave the spot up to Rafe Essary as Smith was moving into the lead.
The yellow flag waved on lap 12 after Kent came to a stop in turn two. Following the restart Essary tried to close on Smith and did get close enough to challenge at one point but Smith was not to be denied as he went on to win his second main event of the season. Essary settled for second while Matt Sherrell worked in way into third after Kent fell out. Passmore finished fourth after starting the race in seventh position and Mike Goodman rounded out the top five.

After a lap one red flag Jackie York went flag-to-flag in the first B main to win over Nigel Calvert. The race was stopped on the first lap when Jonathan Beason went high in turn two trying to pass Kyle Clark. The two made contact sending Beason up in the air and back down hard on the hood of Clark. Beason complained on back pain and was transported to a Muskogee hospital to be checked out. Clark was not hurt and restarted the race.

Phillip Davis raced off the pole to win the second B main. Dustyn Caudle ran second till the yellow flag waved on the final lap. On the restart Brent Bates charged past to finish second and take the final transfer position into the A main.

The next race for the OCRS sprint cars is next Saturday, October17, at Mid-America Speedway in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma.
