Dittman Strikes Kansas Gold At 81
Speedway
By John Lemon
Park City, Kansas (October 3, 2009) - Frank
Dittman of Moore, Oklahoma took his third A Feature win in four Oil Capital
Racing Series attempts Saturday night at the famed 81 Speedway in Wichita,
Kansas. The event was the first ever at 81 Speedway and produced
a field of 37 race teams.
Oklahoma City hot shoe Joe Wood Jr. started in row two of the
25 lap affair and wheeled his J.D. Porter Racing's #71 racer sponsored by Jeff's
Performance and BKG Graphics into the lead at the drop of the green flag and led
the first 6 circuits. Broken Arrow, Oklahoma driver Jonathan Beason chased Wood
during those first six laps in the Broken Arrow Lawn and Garden racer until
taking the top spot for himself on the seventh lap. Beason led until lap number
16 when Wood went back out front briefly. Wood then encountered racings tough
love as he was forced pit-side on lap 17 when his brakes failed thus giving
Beason back the lead.
Three laps later, a yellow would slow the action for Johnny
Kent who spun. On the restart, Dittman snared the lead from Beason in his Bishop
Racing Components / Ratti Kool Grapfics #83 mount and he would lead the rest of
the way for the win. Beason would cross the stripe in second only to be
disqualified for a weight infraction in post race inspection. A similar fate
struck Michelle Decker. Decker hit the checkers behind Beason for what would of
been a third place finish (second after Beason's DQ) but was also dq'd herself
for having a non approved right rear tire.
Waylon Weaver was credited with second after the official
finish was posted with Dean Drake Jr. third, Travis Jenkins fourth and point
leader Jamie Passmore fifth. Dittman was also victorious in the Dash for Cash
race.
The first of two B features was won by Ty Williams followed by
Johnny Kent, Taylor Milton, Tanner Mullins and David Dutton. The second B main
found Evan Sewell the winner with David Stephenson, Brian Roberts and Keith
Bolton and Phillips Davis next.
Fred Mattox flipped in the third heat while Kris Miller turned
over in the second B Feature. Both drivers walked away.
The next race for the OCRS sprint cars is next Friday
October 9, at the Outlaw Motor Speedway in Wainwright, Oklahoma.
